I have to write a research essay about interior design.?

I’m trying to go to college to study interior design next year. I have to submit a research essay about it and I don’t even know where to start. Please help. Don’t recommend websites or TV please. I prefer books and current magazines.

Before you start looking in books and magazines you have to have your topic or you’ll have a hell of a time getting it done.

The best way to approach this is think about something with interior design that you can really focus on. Maybe a designer you like, or a current or past trend?

Once you have that take that idea and become even more specific. Maybe you can research about a specific technique with a trend or something specific that a famous designer contributed.

The more specific you are the easier it is to find information about it and the easier it is to write the paper because you’re not stretching yourself all over the place.

And remember, a comparison paper is not a research paper, so stay away from pro vs. con ideas.

As for where to search for your information, I’m not sure. If you know someone at a local university you could maybe have them search through electronic journals and articles through whatever service their university uses. I think a lot of universities use EBSCO which is amazing and their almost all scholarly sources. And then there’s always the library. Most local libraries should be able to send out for books they don’t have.
