Interior Design University Of Texas
Texas State University San Marcos?

I am thinking of studying interior design at TSU and was wondering if it had a good program for it, and compared to the program at UTSA, which would have a better program.
If you have been at either schools any advice? how did you like it there?

I attend Texas State University-San Marcos and my fiancee attends UTSA; the two universities are actually really different from each other and focus on different aspects of education. In my opinion (and my fiancee’s) Texas State is a better choice when it comes to choosing a university. In fact, one of the main places that Texas State receives transfers from is UTSA. Whether it is because of school pride, tier level, or community, most people would rather choose Texas State.

I personally really enjoy Texas State compared to UTSA. Everyone is definitely more open and willing to help each other, something that you don’t find most places. Texas State also has a really beautiful campus with a river flowing right through it.

To answer your question about the interior design program, I would recommend visiting both universities to get a better idea of what type of commitment your are getting into. Texas State University is also in the top tier of their masters division while UTSA is tier III in theirs. Also, Texas State has just added a large component to the Department of Family and Consume Science that should be open in fall 2010.

“The Interior Design Program in the Department of Family & Consumer Sciences [at Texas State] is accredited by the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research (FIDER). Through this program, graduates are better prepared to obtain gainful employment since the rigorous qualifications of FIDER are strongly respected by interior design firms.”

Good luck
