Where can I find the job outlook for INTERIOR DESIGN?

I am beginning college and I will plan to work in the D.C. area. But I need to know the job outlook for interior design. I dont want to waste time on this major if its something that is hard to be sucessful in or the job outlook is scarce. Please help! thank you.

I do not reccomd this field. We now live is a society of “do-it-yourself” type work and people enjoy doing their own projects, esp home decorating. The only true people who hire interior desginers any more are the very rich, but even that can be slim field to go into.

I want to design a meeting room for 25 persons in an office building.
but I don’t know how to furnish it

Here are some considerations. What kind of meetings will be conducted ? If you are going to be the one to decide the size of the room you will have to determine if the seating will be auditorium-style or classroom -style. Classroom style utilizing 6-8 tables, depending on orientetion to the speaker, will take up about twice the floor space as row seating. Will the speaker be at a table or a lecture stand ? Will the chairs be padded or folding ? Carpet ? Windows ? Curtains ? Blinds ?
Will you need visuals like TV and audio ? Will you need an easel ? A blackboard ? Special lighting ? A sink ? A telephone ?
Will accommodations for refreshments be available nearby ?
Do you have your own zone of the Central air conditioning system or do you have a dedicated unit ? Will it be noisy ?
Will outside noise be a problem ? Will your noise be a problem ?
What else will the room be used for ? How soon do you need it ? What is your budget ?

I would like to hire an interior designer to help me design my home. The furniture throughout my home is high quality and is traditional in style. I may need to add or replace very few furniture items, but seriously need need help with color selection. How much should I expect to pay for color consultation for a 2 story traditional home?

On the average, most interior designers expects to receive $20 per hour. If the designer doesn’t have a degree in Interior Design but you just enjoy doing the work, you can pay him/her $10 or $12 per hour.
