Best Interior Design Blog
Tips on how to start a blog?

I'm thinking of starting a lifestyle blog that features things like travel, food, interior design, beauty, fashion, personal items etc. Would the best way to get my own domain name? Or use a site like blogspot blog? How I create / having a bespoke design? Any advice?

I am a student of Interior Design MA and we have all recently established links, as allowing us to express our points of view, the work and we can use the link to send to employers. Us, but anything in our blog, very much like to what your going to do. We've all done our wordpress, which is free too use. You kind of get a custom layour but you can add and change things when needed ( may be able to do more, ie how to create your own), but I'm fairly new to the world of blogs. I think wordpress is also very easy to use, its simple to add pictures, blogs, etc catorgrise. I have also linked mine to my twitter and facebook. My blog is http://suzidarbyshire.wordpress.com/ take a look if you like good luck x x

Are there any 3D animating pros here?

Can the pros please explain how is a film set created in an animated film made with maya or max? For example for interior scenes is the set all made inside a large box with one or more of the side walls removed to allow the camera to film? How does one start designing a set, does he/she start by creating a box? I would imagine the set is made in a box because all the objects such as furniture etc. can be placed in the box and the top of the box can be used as ceiling etc.

In terms of lighting and windows, is a light source positioned just outside the window to shine inside the room in the set?

Now final question, with exterior sets or exterior scenes, is the same ‘box’ method used? For example someone walking along a large street in his or her neighbourhood, that will be one long box and therefore a long set. How is the sky modelled? Do you remove the top of the ‘box’ and use a sky effect?

That depends on the set. There is more than one way to do it.

Not necessarily. we don’t have to remove anything, we can just decide what we want to to make visible. We do try to build as little as possible.

How does one start designing a set, does he/she start by creating a box?

Perhaps. I tend to start with a floor that has roughly the dimensions of the set.

I would imagine the set is made in a box because all the objects such as furniture etc. can be placed in the box and the top of the box can be used as ceiling etc.

I wouldn’t do that; I prefer to keep objects separate.

It is very rare that one uses just a single light, but yes, we do place lights outside windows.

Now final question, with exterior sets or exterior scenes, is the same ‘box’ method used?

Rarely.

For example someone walking along a large street in his or her neighbourhood, that will be one long box and therefore a long set. How is the sky modelled?

If it’s modeled at all, then typically as a hemisphere.

Do you remove the top of the ‘box’ and use a sky effect?

No.

Pardon the pun but you need to start thinking outside the box.
