Interior Design Classes
What classes would you have had to take in order to be able to go to University for Interior Design?

I am wanting to go into Interior Design when I go to University, I am going into grade 10, and I was wondering, what classes would I need to take in order to be …ready for it? I am already going to take Drafting, and I have only one more elective choice, I was thinking either Spanish or Art. I am really not sure, since I am pretty sure I need both..and other classes I would need?
Thank you :)

You need to take an academic program that will prepare you for college in a basic and general manner. Take your standard classes in
English, literature, mathematics, foreign language, and sciences. You may supplement those with classes in the fine arts, drafting and others. Attain your best possible grades and you will be prepared to enter college upon graduation. You may select a college major later.

Modern or contemporary? There is a significant difference.

Start with HGTV.com. Consider also Dwell (modern) and Florida Living (contemporary) magazines/websites.

Interior Design Chicago
If an australian was considering moving to the usa what cities would you recommend?

If you are an interior designer… i like the idea of la, nyc, boston, san fransisco and chicago…
which are best to get design jobs?

Start in San Francisco. Then if you don’t like it there, you can go to Portland, Oregon, or to Seattle Washington, both beautiful cities with lots of arts and culture lovers, fine restaurants, and many attractions like museums and big zoo, beach close by, nothing quite like the Oregon and Washington coast.Los Angeles is yucky! The beaches are ugly and polluted, and the people are into a different, more self centered life style than in San Francisco. I’ve moved away from the Northwest US to return to my hometown, but I would take Northwest US over Chicago. Chicago winters are cold, hard, windy, and looooong! Northwest California is great because if you live near coast, winter is mild. If you like the snow, you can drive inland and be skiing in 6hrs or less. NYC is always tops for arts, culture, and the people who love it. They have the most diverse group of people with all sorts of interesting historic places to go see. Winters can be brutal, and summer is hot and humid, but for an interior designer with fresh new ideas, NYC is the place to be! If you are more into outdoor activities and mild weather, go to San Francisco. I don’t know what the job market is like, but on a personal “you gotta live here” level, there’s my advice.
