Interior Design advice..what would you put with this please?

Basically I have just bought one of these and would like your opinion on something please…would you have it against a plain wall or patterned wallpaper?

It will be going on my chimney breast.

definately plain, however you could always get embossed wallpaper with pattern on and just simply paint the embossed wallpaper so that its still plain but has a pattern as well, but personally I would just leave it plain, you want to make the fireplace a feature, if you have patterned wallpaper the fireplace will no longer be a feature.
