Which 3D (3ds max, Maya, Form Z, Vizmax, Sketch Up, Rhino) is more useful in interior design?
I use Autocad now but these 3d softwares add more effects to my subjects. I have only seen 3ds Max and Maya in bookstores’ manuals and the rest I only hear from other designers. Which one is for of the “all-around” and flexible? Or at least I have to learn first.. I know there are differences in renderings and animation between Maya and Max – as I browsed through the net, but the rest, I can’t find much where people talk about them.. What are they?
I’m a building designer. I use Autocad Architectural or Revit Architectural for working drawings, Sketchup for massing studies and preliminary work (All around best) then I export the 3d out for rendering in 3DS max. If more of a visualization is required than a rendering then Sketchup (easiest to use) cant be beat. rendering plug-ins (some of them free) make quick work of quality designs. In my opinion Maya, Max and even Rhino are alot more than you will need right away. If you need to pull your hair out right away then Maya (geared more for media and entertainment) is the best hands down. Next 3DS Max Design (high end architectural visualization). Wanna model and animate the next Shrek? Then Maya. Wanna pull rabbits out of your designer hat? Then Sketchup.
