Interior Design Online Magazine
Where do I get ideas for interior design short of hiring a professional?
I want to do something unusual with the place, without going crazy on the budget. Like I want one wall somewhere to be just red. I want to do some stone finish on another wall. The right combination of colors, perfectly placed spot lights, complimenting furniture and plants can really look tasteful and finished. Unfortunately I don’t think I have the vision to see it through, and I rarely like what I can come up with. I know, there is probably a ton of websites and magazines dedicated to this subject, but thats just the problem, there is too much in too many places, and alot of it is simply not up to par. Searching online yields limited results. I am looking for something like an extensive online gallery, so I can browse it and get all kinds of ideas. Perhaps guidelines for picking colors, etc… Any suggestions, anyone?
Thanks,
Rick
A search at http://www.altavista.com/web/adv for picture gallery and using interior decorating as the phrase turned up
http://www.getdecorating.com/ which is a membership service with over 36,000 pictures plus other helps and lots of free previews plus a lot of other sites that might help you. Run the search yourself and see.
Many furniture and some decorating stores have a free decorating service. Their iudeas may or may notb be as dramatic as your tastes but the orice makes it worth checking them out.
A suggestion might be to consider hiring a student studying interior design to give some basic advice much cheaper than a pro as a way of gaining experience and of building photos of their work for a portfolio to help them get jobs after graduation. . Another possibility is to take an adult ed course in design. You sound like someone who has a lot of flair and good ideas.
