Ucas application for BA Hons Interior Design?
I am mid applying for uni, however, my personal statement is not coming on very well, I know there are many questions already posted asking for help with personal statements.
Im applying to study Interior Design, and have a passion for art and deisgn, however I am 21 years of age and worked ever since my a levels (three years), due to my confidence level. Im desperate to go to uni and not for the uni life of partying but to learn the basics of interior design and also, most importantly to challenge my mind and work all those ideas Ive had stacked up there for a while. Im finding it so hard to even start…
With no work experince apart from the passion and the abiltiy to draw and practising this at home do I even stand a chance? I have already had an informal interview with the university I wish to apply for, and been advised he would fast track my application, but im thinking my personal statement has to be amazing to match my work?
ANY advice would be much appreciated.
You have my sympathy I hated writing my personal statement!
I’d say the most important thing is to be genuine, don’t try too hard, without underselling yourself! Finding the balance between that and blowing your own trumpet is rather tricky!!
I’d recommend you allow friends, family to read through your personal statement and provide feedback, by the time 5 friends have read it and improved it, you’ll have a brand new statement!
You must…
Write in clear English.
.
Be positive and enthusiastic about absolutely everything in the world
Also, the age old….’Remember that admissions tutors will read thousands of personal statements, and you want yours to be the one they remember.’ A good opening is essential try a quote or something else a little different…remember to source though!!
Be as clear as possible about why you have chosen your course of study.
Set out the unique features and extracurricular activities that will allow you to be selected ahead of your peers.
Take the opportunity to point out any occurrences or circumstances that may have affected your academic results.
Use your work experience as a benefit rather than a hindrance, it shows you have ability to commit, work hard etc
:)
Best of Luck!!!
