Interior Design-is this a hard field to go into?
I am currently going to college to be a english teacher. I am pretty sure I just want to finish this up, but I am really interested in interior design. The college I am at doesn’t offer this program, so I would have to go to another college to get this major.
My plan is to graduate and become a teacher so that I don’t have to rely on my parents for help with expenses. Would it be hard for me to go back to school to get this major-especially since it would have to be a different university?
It will only be hard if you don’t wish to go back to school. Interior design is a lucrative field if you are good at it. I would first check with upscale designers to see how they broke into the field. Everyone has to start somewhere. Talk to local design shops. New interior designers do not go it alone at the beginning of their career. They work with designers who have a name in the community. If after years of experience you are good enough to go it alone, you have that option. But be prepared to work for an agency or company first.
