What color paint and carpeting?

I have a great couch that has two slipcovers I alternate….a rich blue that is a shade or two lighter than navy and an off-white. I am moving in to a smaller basement apartment and get to choose the paint and carpet. I have a lot of freedom, and help for the painting (though we are all amateurs), so I would love some bolder, unique and fun choices. I just happen to be CLUELESS about interior design.

I love blue and white.
I would suggest a lighter blue carpet and an off white or sand color walls.
You can use silver as accents and maybe even do one wall turquoise wall.Yellow accents will look great.
If they won’t go for the one turquoise wall, you can cover the wall with turquoise fabric.
