APA Style Citation – help please!?
Is it true that you never put the author’s first name but only initial?
Also, if a book is marked “third edition”, do you include this as part of the title? And if location is listed as “Upper Saddle River, New Jersey” which do I put?
What is correct?
Pile, J.F. (2003). Interior Design Third Edition. New Jersey: Prentice Hall.
Pile, John F. (2003). Interior Design. Upper Saddle River: Prentice Hall.
for APA Style Citations you only put the authors initials. So in terms of that, the first one is correct. Also because Upper Saddle River is not a common city you would name the city and the state. Also you do need to include the fact that it was a third edition. And you only capitalize the first word of the title of the book. The correct APA citation would be:
Pile, J. F. (2003). Interior design (3rd ed.). Upper Saddle River, NJ: Prentice Hall.

Philippine House Interior Design Pictures
Is it possible to ask people I dont know if I can take pictures of their houses for my interior design blog?
I want to start a blog on interior design. However, I don’t know a lot of people who have nice houses. Would it be possible if I ask people I don’t know if I can take pictures of their spaces? Of course, I will write a formal letter of request and explain to them that I will feature their home in my blog. Is this acceptable in Filipino culture?

I just want everyone to know that what I meant is just rooms, decor. I wouldn’t show the outside of the house, doors, windows.
But model houses are a good idea! I’m just concerned that there aren’t that many of them.
You can always ask but I think those people would be foolish to allow it. By taking pictures of the interior of their homes and posting them on a blog which is accessible by just about anyone is opening up your house to be cased by people they don’t know, a thief or a burglar (or worse) could plan a home invasion simply by looking at those pictures.
You might want to consider taking pictures at “open houses” when a real estate agent is showing off a home for sale–you shouldn’t tell them that your pictures will be used for your own promotion; you should pretend that you looking for a home to buy and want your spouse/parents/roommate to see the pictures so maybe they’ll also want to buy the house with you. At least those houses are empty and no one can be burgled or victimized.
