Interior Design Kitchen Floors
Interior design – can I use light wood and dark wood together?

I live in a fairly new flat. Most of the furnishings are light wood (light beech) including all doors, kitchen cabinets, hallway flooring. I’ve recently bought dark wood (chocolate) blinds for the living room and tv cabinet. Can I mix the two colours in the living room? I don’t want to overwhelm the living room with too many dark furniture pieces and I also want to try and tie it into the rest of the flat.

Is light wood mixed with dark wood a big no, no – or can I pull this off somehow? I was thinking of perhaps getting a beech coloured coffee table and a few beech shelves?

Advice appreciated!!

Yes, you can definitely mix both colors of wood. We often use both dark and light color wood combinations in custom flooring. They have to blend well or “match” each other, but other than that, have fun and let your creativity loose!

Interior Design Makeover
Ideas on making a manly but romantic bedroom setting?

I’m 25 years old and am in the process of giving my room a more mature makeover. I need a queer guy for this staight guy kinda perspective, because I am pretty clueless when it comes to interior design. Thanks for your help!! ps i like blue and green and live near beach

you can disqualify my answer if you wish as i am not the least bit gay.

i am a single guy in my mid 50′s though so maybe that puts me in the mature category.

my master bedroom ( small by today’s standards as it is only 12 x 14 ) is painted two colors on the walls, a linen cream above a quiet ocean green ( i cut off the green at 36 inches above the floor ) on three walls and just the linen cream on one wall. all of the wood trim is painted an antique white to set it off slightly from the linen color.

i have tasteful photographs i have taken thru the years and then framed hanging on the solid color wall. some original artwork is hanging in a few spots as well with low watt, dimmable, focus lights illuminating them from the ceiling.

the ceiling fan has dimmaqble lights as well.

the furniture is natural wood and a light color. there are woven perisian style carpet runners on each side of the bed.

quiet, comfortable, mood setting when desired, functional and “mature”.

Kurt Cobain Interior Design?

Because it’s quite obvious that Cobain is like an all-knowing modern day Jesus, I’m wondering what color he’d recommend for painting my bedroom. Would he have gone with an eggshell white or perhaps a lovely shade of my fav color bloody RED?

Purple Mountain MAJESTY!

Lol, I made a joke :D
