The Top Interior Design University
How well is VCU(Virginia Commonwealth University), and my odds? Recommendations?
I currently live in Illinois, and I plan on majoring in Graphic Design or Interior Design. I have considered a lot of instate schools but VCU appeals to me because its well ranked in terms of academics for my major, and its in a urban setting. In addition, I prefer a diverse, large student body, and want to go out of state. Would you recommend this school as a good choice?
My current GPA is about a 3.45 out of 4, received a 23 on my ACT(retaking), and top 25% out of 680 graduation class. However, I don’t currently have a portfolio a the moment, yet I’ve done a lot of designing on my spare time. Would this be an important factor?
Also if i were to dorm there, which would one would you recommend?
I applied to VCU arts last year and got in pretty easily (my gpa was ~3.3). However, they’re pretty stingy about financial aid, so I didn’t go. If you have a stellar portfolio, you might get a scholarship.
I suggest you work on developing a portfolio, and if possible attend a portfolio day at a nearby art school, where VCU might be visiting (they were at MICA’s portfolio day last year).
Good luck!
