Interior Design Painting Walls
Help with interior design and colours please!?

I am moving into a small room in a flat, it is aprox 10ftX12ft, with cream walls, i currently have a deep red bedroom and all black furniture. I want to create a kind of gothic victorian feel and am planning to move in most of my black furniture. The room has horrible white vinyl tiles on the floor and i don’t know what to do with them! I am worried about painting the walls dark or having a dark floor as its so small with only one window but the light colours just aren’t me, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Would be a great help, Thank you.

Use a sponging technique between two close colors on the walls.Light gray and tan will give a stone or marble look.Ceilings should be lighter than the walls.Add a chandelier to the middle of the room. For a bright wide open look include a major lighting source, plus table lamps and wall sconces.Candles,Candles and more Candles should be placed around the room to highlight your favorite features.Use velvet tapestries, patterned floors, such as a floral area rug.Hang a large mirror above the dresser, this will make the room appear bigger and is very victorian.Pay close attention to your decorating and fill each area.Use books, picture frames, china, lace doilies, drawstrings for the curtains, stuffed but not overcrowded.Keep the crap hidden away-paperwork,cd’s,magazines-anything that doesn’t fit in.Keep it elegant.Lots of patterns, colors, and delicate accents are important to include in your theme.Different color mauves, grays and tans will go good with the red and are perfect for a gothic victorian theme.
