what are some colleges i can get into?

i have a 2.8 GPA (i’m a junior in high school but im doing alot better now)
top 50% of my h.s class
drama club
community service as a special education aid
journalism club
choir
AP biology(double credit)
Honors US history(double credit)
American Sign Language(double credit)

I want to move to a nice place, possibly in the east coast,Im not planning to take the ACTs or SATs so if theres an open policy school that would be great.
Im interested in either one of these:
-nursing
-psychology
-interior design
-business management

I was looking at American Intercontinental University but some people says it’s a scam. If you know something about that let me know please.
Thanks!!
I live in Arizona by the way

A number of the schools Nichole gave are not good choices as your GPA and class rank would not be high enough (even if you brought GPA up to anything under 3.5). Also, for the ones I know by name, you absolutely must take SAT or ACT.

If you don’t plan to take the SAT or ACT you are going to severely limit the options open to you.

I personally like the search tool at the College Board’s website – it is very functional, and can help you find the schools which match what’s important to you – by major, location, and many other variables.

I think American Intercontinental University is one you should steer clear of. It is part of Career Education Corp – a for profit company and its accreditation is in jeopardy.

American InterContinental University has had its probation extended for a second year by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Career Education Corp., which operates American InterContinental, announced Tuesday. The Southern accreditor had placed the university on a 12-month probation last December, for falling short of a wide range of the group’s standards, including among other things the “integrity of student academic records and accuracy in recruiting and admission practices.” Under the regional accreditor’s bylaws, an institution may remain on probation for only two years, after which it can either regain its accreditation or lose it. American InterContinental remains accredited in the interim. Career Education also announced Tuesday that American InterContinental and seven of its other campuses had received word last month that the Education Department plans to conduct program reviews to examine their compliance with federal rules.

Interior Designer Resume Objective
What should be included on a professional resume?

I am going to college to become an interior designer. I currently working for an interior designer, and as the economy is still not picking up in the housing industry, I am seeking another job. I have created a resume with the Microsoft Word 2003 Resume Wizard and I have included my information, an objective, education, work experience, volunteer experience and references. I do not personally know any teachers who could be used as references and I have friends listed. What else should be included in my resume?
When I started working for the interior designer, I was initially hired to be an “intern” for her and all I do now is maintain the shop’s appearance, unpack new shipments, and help with customers, as well as other things I do at work that have nothing to do with me doing interior design. How can I incorporate this sort of detail without actually saying I don’t do interior design there? Would this look bad on my resume?

Best bet is to look at jobs descriptions for keywords that will allow employers you want to find you…find you! As for other things, I like to put key skills at the top part of the resume. For references, use the people you know where you work.

Finally, get some career advise. There should be counselors at your school. If they can’t help try an online career adviser like the one at jobhuntwiz.com.

Good luck,

What is it with famous painting reproductions being tacky and what is the solution?

I would like for people in the know to give me their opinion on why some interior designers (and others) think that handpainted reproductions of famous art (van Gogh, Picasso, etc.) are considered tacky and shouldn’t be bought? What if there is a painting I really love like van Gogh’s Starry Night Painting; what if any is the solution to displaying reproductions of famous paintings in a tasteful manner?

INterior Designers (I am an Interior Architect) work for clients. It is their job to design something their client will enjoy living with. If you wanted reproduction Starry Nights, I would give them to you. But I would cringe. I have actually had clients ask me to find them a painting that is seven feet long and matches their sofa. Ugh. How totally tasteless to match your art to your furniture.

I would take you to galleries and show you original art in that vein you might like, but if you wanted Elvis on velvet or card playing dogs, as long as you were paying for my services, I would do it.
